Foundation Stone (Rock of Moriah)
It is also known as the Pierced Stone because
it has a small hole on the southeastern corner that enters a cavern beneath the
rock, known as the Well of Souls. It is the holiest site in Judaism (Midrash
Tanhuma, chapter 10); Jewish tradition views it as the spiritual junction of
Heaven and Earth. Jews traditionally face it while praying, in the belief that
it was the location of the Holy of Holies in the Temple.

Mount Zion is a hill in Jerusalem just outside the
walls of the Old City.
The term Mount Zion has been historically associated
with the Temple Mount,
but its meaning has shifted and it is now used as the
name of ancient Jerusalem's
so-called western hill. In a wider sense, the term is
also used for the entire
Land of Israel.

King David’s Tomb on Mount
Zion in Jerusalem
It is located near the Hagia Maria Sion Abbey.
The tomb is situated in a ground floor corner of the
remains of the former Hagia Zion, a Byzantine church. Older Byzantine
tradition dating to the 4th century identified the location as the Cenacle
of Jesus and the original meeting place of the Christian faith. The
building is now part of the Diaspora Yeshiva.

Ramparts Walk Around Walls of Old Jerusalem
One particularly memorable way of getting a bird’s eye
view of the Old City of Jerusalem is to walk along the narrow stone paths along
the tops of its outer walls. Referred to as the Ramparts Walk, on this path you
can traverse the Old City from above, taking in the rooftops, domes and spires
of the sacred buildings that dot the Old City.
